More than just a hotel drinking den, this bar doubles as an art space as well.

Editorial

When you think of Canberra, what do you think of? Politics? Intrigue? Scandal? Booze? While the name might seem a little suspicious, the Cahoots Bar and Gallery is anything but. Encompassing all the finery that our Nation's capital has to offer, minus the intrigue and the scandal, this Rydges hotel bar makes a fine port of call for any traveller or local alike.

Filled with memorabilia from Australia's political past (ball and chain, anyone?), Cahoots draws on a rich heritage of high society and fine design to set a stylish scene. Decked in dark-stained wood finishes mixed with a plush carpet of green (it can only be described as ?American dollar bill' green), the bar is dotted casually with deep chairs and low tables, allowing your evening to play out at a relaxing elbow height.

Be you a Diplomat, a Foreign Policy Advisor or a lowly politician, this bar has the feel and comfort of a Royal drawing room (lucky, considering we're still a Commonwealth), welcoming all into its soft, plush arms. The alcohol selection likewise draws on a world of class, with top-shelf spirits (try a VSOP cognac for a superb nightcap) and fine wines (predominantly Australian, naturally) at the ready. The staff are also eager on the cocktail front, with all the wit and skill to mix your palate into a sublime frenzy.
