With its sister performance centre, The Canberra Theatre, it consisted in Australia’s first purpose-built performing arts centre. History aside, the 600-seater is a well-designed venue. Its optical nerve is in great health with excellent sight lines from every seat and its acoustics ring clear as companies from Bell Shakespeare to Meryl Tankard take to its stage.
