Debacle

With over 120 premium Australian and imported beers, and an impressive list of wines by the glass, Debacle is anything but.

Editorial

While it may not be in the running for an ambience award, Debacle is anything but. With an impressive range of beers and a large menu of snack meals (and larger), this bar does a steady job of pulling in a varied crowd - from those after a quick drink or bite to eat, to large groups after an extended, liquid lunch. And with a large outdoor seating area, there are many bonuses to calling in the troops and setting up camp for the night.

Beer lovers are spoiled for choice here. More than a dozen beers are offered on tap, ranging from Australian favourites (like Coopers and Zierholz) to German and Czech imports. Try a pint of Chimay Tripel (8%) to knock your socks off. And by the bottle Debacle cover a myriad of choice - a hundred or so more - from light strength ales and lager, to heavy stouts and bitey pilsners. Once again, a fair selection of German and Czech beers number among these mighty ranks - after all, they're the best European beers about.

And if the mood grabs you, there're some tasty pizzas to be had - although you may want to check your bank account first, as they aren't cheap. Tuck into an Hawaiian with a cold Leffe Blonde; or a spicy Decimo with a flame-quenching Singha.

My search for a sensational gluten free pizza base may be over - Debacle scores five stars for its GF efforts. Wish they'd share their secret! Get your tastebuds around the Fungo, but sweet talk the chef into adding proscuitto for an even more sublime tastebud experience.

Cold beer is available in a clean hot glass or a cold dirty glass. Your choice as advised by the bar lady last night.
