Isabella's Bar & Terrace
Editorial
When you're all said and done with your sightseeing in Fyshwick, there's one historic building which is actually worth the visit in our mighty capital. Housed inside the Hotel Kurrajong, Isabella's Bar and Terrace is known not only for being minutes from Parliament House, but as a home of fine wine and food. Now, you may not want to rub shoulders with our esteemed pollies, but rest assured Isabella's attracts a diverse crowd of tourists, locals and those just curious to sample the extensive wine list. And if you stay on past dinner, you can move into the Chifley dining room for a gastronomic treat or two.
Settle into a table setting and be prepared to spend some time studying the wine list. It consists of a large array of wines sourced from here and overseas, with a nice representation of ACT wines. Naturally, there are a few French Champagnes, but the rest of the list is a mix of Australian reds and whites, and a New Zealand Sav Blanc and Pinot Gris. The best of the best? You betcha. There's also a ?cellar' of specials, which rotate on a seasonal basis - watch this list for some great specials. And for those who like harder stuff, spirits are all reasonably priced and range from standard first-pours to reliable top-shelf - Glenfiddich and Courvoiser being highlights.
