Owner Nancy Trindade, (formally of Nino’s in Bondi), has created a relaxed, upbeat place that serves simple good food. The bacon and egg roll with home-made aioli is one of the best in town as are the ricotta pancakes. The coffee’s superb too.

Randwick certainly has its fair share of good cafes these days. One Six Nine is well up there with the best of them. The bright and white interior does wonders for lifting even the bleakest of moods and a coffee in their sun-bathed windows is a great start to the day. For sweet-tooths go for the hot chocolate served with marshmallows. There’s a great breakfast menu (try the omelette with basil and goats cheese) and a good range of specials too. For lunch they do fresh and tasty gourmet sandwiches and baguettes and watch out for their dangerous slices and cakes.
