"You're b.f.a.b: born from a beat box," says lead hunk Luke (Malambri) to nimble limbs Moose (Sevani). But he could be talking about how Step Up 3D carries on as if the only reason to exist is to pop, lock and move rhythmically all the time.

Annoying, then, that the tip-top hip-hopping routines are interrupted by the persistent scourge of dance movies — drama, AKA the slim attempts at giving the dancers something to do off-stage, apart from cool rehearsal montages and wearing funky threads.

When the sweet but sappy subplots quit, and the ultra-stylin' boogie battles go down, Step Up 3D steps up (although Streetdance 3D made better use of depth of field). Word.

It's a cool movie with a lot of funky and hip hop music making me want to regain the hip hop thinking.

The main storyline is about the competitive world of "Street/HipHop Dancing" and following your dreams. The choreography and tricks were excellent. Seeing it was in 3D, I was expecting to feel like the dancers doing backflips, etc would land in my lap, but that did not happen. Still there were very good 3D special effects. Loved the Dancing and the Music. This is definitely one for all the dance lovers out there! Wish I was able to have seen it sooner, so I could have put a review in earlier.
