Western Australia's bright young art-sparks exhibit things from their angle.

Fifty-six works of art by last year's crop of year 12 TEE Art and Art and Design students, selected from across Western Australia, are on display at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Committed to building cross-cultural bridges, the exhibition also features 17 pieces from young Japanese artists.

Year 12 Perspectives is an annual highlight of the gallery calendar, showcasing a preview of the state's emerging talent and a forum for the expression of the region's young people of today.

"We have once again been struck by the diversity, dynamism and creativity of young artists in this state," says director of the Art Gallery of WA, Stefano Carboni.

The event cultivates the next generation of artistic greats with a series of awards. Two $5000 Perspective grants will be presented, one facilitating the creative and educational aspirations to further artistic talent, while the other funds a trip to Japan to study in their chosen creative field. The latter award also means the inclusion in the IFAC International School Arts exhibition in Tokyo as one of the exclusive Year 12 Perspectives Western Australian touring pieces.
