Always a huge boon to Queensland’s economy – not to mention an epic treat for anyone feeling stranded in limbo between Christmas and New Year’s – the Woodford Folk Festival is a six-day feast that’s not limited to music in the least. And yet music still provides a substantial draw, with this year’s talent including Katie Noonan, You Am I, The Cat Empire, Lior and freewheeling U.S. hip-hop oddballs Arrested Development (best known for their 1992 hit Tennessee). As you can tell, the offerings are by no means confined to folk, and likewise the whole fest happily marches to its own tune.
