Winners of the Best Cabaret Award at the 2004 Edinburgh Fringe, bawdy New York duo The Wau Wau Sisters return to Adelaide Fringe with their latest madcap show, The Last Supper, a burlesque take on religion that will leave you gasping.
Lascivious, humorous, sexy and skilful, this is the Last Supper as you've never imagined it - a two-woman circus populated by dandies, derelicts and disciples, and bursting at the seams with an astutely-juggled mix of humour and mayhem.
This profane performance art party by two Catholic schoolgirls turned born again Country & Western stars was described by News Weekly as being 'like the Vagina Monologues on acid', and sees The Wau Wau Sisters - aka Adrienne Truscott and Tanya Gagné - cartwheeling across stage in their pink cowboy hats, in between singing some of the most lewd country songs ever composed.
Recent years have seen a major revival of burlesque, but The Wau Wau Sisters have gained international acclaim for their deft and diverse take on the genre, adding sketch comedy, audience participation, and some very risqué circus tricks to the mix.
A brilliant evening of erotic acrobatics and cunning stunts, this Last Supper will leave you hungry for more!
