The Bible has always been a furtive ground for playwrights and none more so than Genesis, with stories of The Creation, Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden and Noah's Ark. In The Mysteries: Genesis, brilliant Australian playwrights Lally Katz and Hilary Bell have used these religious myths as the basis for an exploration of how medieval troupes made them into theatre.
STC's Co-Artistic Director Andrew Upton, Associate Director Tom Wright and Matthew Lutton have joined forces to co-direct the production, a giant force behind a group of actors that are the backbone of the STC. Hand selected in June this year, The Residents are responsible for education and development within the company.
Designer Alice Babidge will take the traditional Wharf 2 theatre space and transform it into old world inns, pits and cloisters with her famous quirky and modern edge. Word has it that there will be live bears in her pits but I'm not so sure that the STC's OHS policy would stretch that far! Stay tuned…
