Raised in the dark on a diet of repression and day old mince, Queensland's Kransky Sisters do things to music that should be illegal in all states and territories.

For some years, performers and writers Annie Lee and Christine Johnston privately prepared their comic creation for public life. Now, the Kransky Sister Universe is a place for audiences to actively inhabit.

It's as complex as anything Joss Whedon or those Star Trek people might have written. Lee and Johnston's obsessive passion has given rise to fictional lives that are just as intricate, and much, much funnier, than the Buffy-verse.

The Kransky Sisters offer a look at Australian life that is gut-bustlingly funny and truly rich. If Citysearch was forced to nominate a Comedy Festival must-see, these heiresses to a Barry Humphries wit would surely be it.

When I grow up, I want to be a Kransky sister.
