If you crave the fragrance of patchouli, the sight of dreadlocks flapping in the wind and the sound of city drummers, you have no choice but to visit this annual hippy fete. It’s a wonderful tribute to the peccadilloes of an area that refuses to budge from the 1960s.

Do note, though, the Fair is actually a good bet for festive gifts. With its street food and seasonal jollity, it ain’t a bad place to pick up trinkets.

Nor is it a bad place to feel great affection for a suburb with an unmistakable identity. This is big, bold, boho and not to be missed.
