Suzi Quatro: Keeps on Rocking Tour
Editorial
Apparently Suzi Quatro lives in a large country mansion with a moat surrounding it. You don't see that much these days - houses with moats around them. Obviously the last three decades of music, television and radio work have been lucrative for Quatro. Growing up in Detroit, the singer and guitarist probably didn't imagine she'd end up with a country estate in the UK and a moat. Back in those days, most kids in Detroit ended up working for a car manufacturer. Playing around town with a number of bands, Quatro was discovered by record producer Mickie Most. He already had hits with acts like Donovan and The Animals, and invited Quatro back to the UK in 1971 to record with him. The next decade would see Quatro enjoy a string of rock hits in both the UK and Australia, becoming as well-known for her tight leather outfits as her songs.
Despite the international success of hits like She's In Love With You and Race Is On, it would take a decade of hustle to see a US breakthrough. That came courtesy of the number one hit, Stumblin' In, and guest spots on TV shows like Happy Days.
The hits may have dried up by the early '80s, but Quatro is still fondly remember in Australia, evidenced in the success of several tours she's performed out this way. Constant radio and television work has also kept her in the spotlight and, as we previously mentioned, she has a house with a moat. Success doesn?t get any better than this.
