Based on the perennially popular film Some Like It Hot, 1959's cross-dressing comedy starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe, Sugar is The Production Company's third big musical for 2010.

Joe (Matt Hetherington) and Jerry (Mitchell Butel) are struggling, Prohibition-era musicians who unwittingly witness the St Valentine's Day Massacre (a real-life crime in which gangsters working for the notorious Al Capone ambushed and killed seven men in the employ of rival crime boss Bugs Moran).

In fear for their lives, the two musicians flee town, disguised as women. They become Daphne and Josephine, and to aid their cover, they embark on a tour with Sweet Sue and her band, the Society Syncopators. But in classic screwball comedy style, Joe-as-Josephine falls for the sexy songstress, Sugar Kane (played by Christie Whelan) while Jerry, as Daphne, finds himself being wooed by an ardent millionaire. Events really get out of hand when the gangsters arrive and discover who 'Josephine' and 'Daphne' really are!

Featuring such great songs as 'Penniless Bums', 'What Do You Give (To a Man Who Has Everything?)' and 'The Beauty That Drives Men Mad', and a superb cast, Sugar may very well be the sweetest musical comedy you'll see this year.
