Snoop Dogg
Editorial
Snoop Dogg isn't just a rapper. 15 years since he first burst onto the scene with What's My Name, the man born Calvin Broadus is a brand name. He's a media mogul with a range of business ventures across the entertainment spectrum: music, film, clothes, 'adult products', record labels and numerous other interests. While some sections of the media like to vilify Snoop, there's no denying his business acumen. Or his ability to craft pop hits.
You can witness that incredible back catalogue firsthand on Snoop's latest Australian tour: Smoked Out. From Gin and Juice through Drop It Like It's Hot to the latest smash, Sexual Seduction, he's a rapper and an entertainer not afraid to change with the times. While that might help explain his longevity, Snoop's continued success is something else. It puts him up there with a handful of other artists, people like Madonna and, well, no one else we can really think of. He's simply that savvy.
Joining Snoop on his Australian tour are Ice Cube and Bone Thugs and Harmony. Ice Cube is worth seeing in his own right, so anyone with even a vague interest in hip hop would be smart to get their tickets sorted sooner rather than later.
