Embracing both opera and pop music, Salford-born tenor Russell Watson started his professional life as a welder before he was discovered performing Elvis Presley covers in working-men's clubs in the north-west of England.

After performing before a huge crowd at one of England's iconic football stadiums, Watson's career was made; he went on to record chart-topping albums and sing for everyone from American presidents to the late Pope John Paul II, in a specially requested private audience.
