One of the best deals in town, however you slice it.

Editorial

It's that time of year again: Triple R is preparing to bolster its valued supporters with another Radiothon. The station is very much listener-funded, relying on listener subscriptions to stay on the air - and for that matter, play amazing amounts of music you're not likely to hear elsewhere. The theme for this year's Radiothon is “Make Contact!,” which means you can expect to hear sounds from outer space and classic sci-fi films beamed over the airwaves in the coming weeks. The station's staff will even re-enact scenes from famous sci-fi films on the air, having a bit of a laugh as always.

If you're new to Triple R or its annual Radiothon, basically you subscribe to the station for a year, which is just a tangible way of supporting Triple R. The normal subscription is $75, although there's a $40 concession rate and a $125 “passionate” rate for those who really want to chuck in something extra. A subscription includes invitations to subscriber events, from live broadcasts to BBQs, and discounts at lots of tasteful retailers around Melbourne.

As if that didn't already pay for itself over a year, all subscribers go into a draw for colossal prizes ranging from a $2000 Readings voucher to an iPad to a trip for two to Cambodia. It's nuts, I know. What are you waiting for?
