Part of the official Q150 - Queensland's 150th Celebrations is this high-powered collaboration between Brisbane's own rock-electronica band Regurgitator and progressive, energetic choreographer Gavin Webber, Rock Show. With these two creative forces involved it's going to be one loud, brash, dirty, sexy theatre experience as movement, keyboards and thrashing guitars compete for space on the stage in its Brisbane premiere.
Regurgitator first formed as a band in 1994, and soon became one of Australia's leading touring rock bands. They gained an international following, won a stack of ARIA Awards, and in 1997, dipped their toe tentatively into the music/theatre collaborative waters with Handspan Theatre for the Melbourne International Arts Festival.
In his ten years working in dance theatre, Webber's never been one for toeing the party line, and because of this, he's become one of Australia's most innovative and boundary-pushing choreographers. He studied dance at Adelaide's Centre for the Performing Arts. He's worked with Meryl Tankard and toured internationally with her company. He's studied in Europe, lectured at Queensland University of Technology, and is now Artistic Director of Dancenorth, a progressive dance company based in Townsville.
Rock Show takes the movement and vocabulary Webber developed with Dancenorth and Regurgitator's edge and combines them to create one explosive outcome that's not for the faint-hearted, but definitely not to be missed.

The young cast of the Rock Show were very musically talented. Stuart Smith and Andrew Sampford really made the show. Don't compare to Rock Of Ages, it apples and oranges.
