Held among river redgums in a natural amphitheatre beside the Murray River, the inaugural Riverboats Music Festival debuts at the perfect time – still summery enough to eat al fresco, splash in the water or cruise downriver in a paddle steamer – and for absolute pocket change compared to most other music festivals. The great all-Aussie lineup includes veteran Oz-rockers Colin Hay and Mark Seymour, Tex Perkins and Mick Thomas with their respective backing outfits, soul sisters Vika and Linda Bull and alt-folk duo the Audreys. Booty-shakers can also look forward to the Bamboos’ funk and the raucous R&B of Clairy Brown and the Bangin’ Rackettes.
