The story of a far-from-average gap year told in story and song.

When: 31 March-24 April 2011
Where: Acacia Room, Victoria Hotel
Reviewed: Wednesday 13 April, 2011.

Last year, deadpan musical comedians Smart Casual, half brothers Roger David and Fletcher Jones, told the story of their lives in the very funny Same Mother, Different Fathers.

This year's Comedy Festival outing is patchier; a less consistently entertaining but still original outing that sees them recount their adventures on a round-the-world journey with the eccentric Captain Entrée.

With less songs and more focus on storytelling, the show features some enjoyable gags about racist polar bears and auto-erotic asphyxiation; and once again the duo make the most of playing up the creative tensions between them. Other elements, including some deliberately crass material, such as limericks about gerbils, sit uneasily with their more intelligent jokes.

An entertaining show, but one which suggests this talented duo are still finding their comedic feet.
