When: 13 Oct-29 Nov 2009
Where: JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design

It's no secret that we are consuming the Earth's resources very quickly, and that these are not always renewable. Resource - Re-source is an exhibition that looks at new ways of designing and manufacturing with finite materials.

A collection of local artists and designers adopt a fresh approach and look at using a whole range of different materials in creating and manufacturing new works. In an age where established practices and materials are being reassessed, more value is being placed on less traditional ways of working with them. What were once considered non-precious materials are now being seen in a new light, and as a viable alternative in furniture design and production. Examples of furniture and household items created with this in mind will be on display at JamFactory.

JamFactory is considered one of Australia's leading contemporary craft and design galleries, presenting and promoting local artists and crafts people working across a variety of media. In this exhibition, artists include contemporary furniture designer Gareth Brown, Craig English, designer Nico Kelly, Takeshi Iue, JamFactory Creative Director Tom Mirams, custom furniture designer Julie Pieda, wood artist Adrian Potter, David Potts, John Quan, Lou Turner and Fine Art dealer Peter Walker.
