Fancy spending a weekend in the company of your favourite red wine? The Red Wine Weekend is brining some of Tasmania’s best drops your way.

Editorial

Winter is almost here. The weather is reaching that point where voluntarily venturing outdoors raises eyebrows and hushed whispers about your sanity. It is a time when the charms of the television, a good book and a blanket are rediscovered. People need a pretty good reason to head into the great outdoors. And we are here to give you at least one. The Red Wine Weekend is coming back for the third time due to popular demand – at the request of people who no doubt on most wintry weekends would rather sit at home in their pyjamas – to the Long Gallery at the Salamanca Arts Centre.

Warming up bellies and providing alcoholic sustenance this year, will be more than 70 wines brought from wineries across Tasmania. So you’ll be able to perk up with a Pinot Noir, get giddy over a Garnay, cosy-up to a Cabernet, melt with a Merlot and fill all of the time in-between with sparkling reds and roses. You will also have the opportunity to speak with the people who make the wine and find out a bit more about the ultimate winter companion. The Red Wine Weekend will take place from midday to 5pm on Saturday, 12 and Sunday, 13 June. Entry will be $15 per person and includes all tastings, a tasting booklet, a premium wine tasting glass, a pen and entry to the lucky door prize.
