Editorial

Powderfinger are back in the studio and working on their seventh album. According to a web update from guitarist Darren Middleton, the Brisbane five-piece started work on the new LP last week and hope to have it ready by year's end. "We have been busy writing for the last five months, and I have to say, we are pretty damn excited heading into the studio with our old friend, producer Nick DiDia,'' Middleton wrote. "The demos are vibing and full of life, and we hope to carry on from there'."

First popping up on the scene in 1994 with Parables for Wooden Ears, Powderfinger have been one of the most successful rock acts to come out of Australia, picking up 15 ARIA awards and several platinum albums.

A separate, official statement (with way too many exclamation marks) that validates the remarks was released from the group's management, and definitely sounds like it was written by a publicist: "Saddle up 'Finger fans, it's the news you've been waiting for! This coming Monday 22nd June Powderfinger are returning to the studio! Taking the helms for this album will again be Nick DiDia, responsible for Internationalist, Odyssey Number 5 and Vulture St!"

The new, as yet untitled, album is the follow up to 2007's Dream Days at the Hotel Existence.
