Prepare your palates; one of the Barossa Valley’s best recognised wineries is hosting a marvellous five-course degustation dinner at The Epping Club and you’re invited.

Editorial

The sun-kissed vines of South Australia’s Barossa Valley produce famously delicious wines – especially of the Shiraz Riesling, Semillon, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon variety. Peter Lehmann Wines came to the Barossa in 1979 and has since become recognised for its Shiraz, Semillon, Riesling as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Grenache wines.

The main problem for Sydneysiders is that not all of these wines are available and the Barossa is a good 17 hour drive away which makes it a little hard to access. But anybody who has wanted to get better acquainted with the Barossa – and particularly with Peter Lehmann Wines – can thank their lucky stars. On Thursday, 25 February The Epping Club will be hosting a spectacular five-course Peter Lehmann Wine Dinner.

Brining wines that are rarely available to the public and pairing them with five delicious courses, Peter Lehmann Wines is set to make your foodie fantasies come true. When you first arrive at The Epping Club you will be greeted with an amuse bouche of smoked chicken on fennel puree with blood orange jelly. When your palate is sufficiently amused, the second course – glazed breast of pork with poached Granny Smith apple and green mustard vinaigrette – will follow.

Next, diners will dig into an Atlantic salmon and Serrano ham en brioche with capers and pink peppercorn and lemon confit and then a sirloin of prime beef served with spring garlic cloves, glazed carrots, bone marrow and Bordelaise sauce. Finally you will be presented with a chocolate pudding with caramelised bananas, peanut-butter mousse and tea and coffee to finish. The degustation dinner will kick off at 7pm and set you back $72 (wine included). Bookings are essential.
