One of the world's biggest rock bands, Pearl Jam, are coming to Australia, and soon. Be quick to snap up a ticket.

Editorial

Pearl Jam are coming to Australia! That's right folks, Pearl Jam. One of the biggest rock bands in the world (they've sold around 60 million albums), Pearl Jam are also among the longest running. Emerging in Seattle, 1990 - the epicentre and hey day of grunge - Pearl Jam are fast closing in on the 20th year in the biz. Not bad for a band that 'don't do' music videos.

The group kicks off their Australian tour in mid-November and so far are vowing their shows will be one night only in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane (though there looks to be room in the schedule for extra shows …). Supporting all dates are frequent visitors Ben Harper and the Restless 7, plus the latest famous Finn, Liam.

Tickets for all Australian shows go on sale 9am, Monday, 17 August 2009, from Ticketmaster (Perth and Melbourne) and Ticketek. Prices are $99.90 for a silver ticket, $123.90 for gold. Be quick for tickets as these shows are guaranteed to sell out in minutes.

After their Australian dates, Pearl Jam wing their way over to New Zealand for shows in Auckland and Christchurch on 27 and 29 November.

Pearl Jam 2009 Australian Tour Dates
Saturday, 14 November - Perth
Tuesday, 17 November - Adelaide
Friday, 20 November - Melbourne
Sunday, 22 November - Sydney
Wednesday, 25 November - Brisbane

Ed and the boys are back. I don't think they've released anything new since I saw them when they were last here. But that's not what matters anyway. I hear the grunge look is back so break out the flannelette and fire up that early 90's Seattle sound. Given Nirvana, Soundgarden or anyone else from that era are most likely not going to be touring this is probably your last chance for a gig like this. Let's hope the crowd don't run amuck this time (probably why it's not at Rod Laver this time).
