P!nk: Funhouse Tour
Editorial
Australia really loves Pink. Like, really loves her. The singer's new tour has gone from a couple of huge shows in every capital, to several huge shows in every capital. And then some more shows in out-of-the way places. And yet more in Sydney and Melbourne for good measure. Her 2006 tour of Australia may have been big, but 2009 is looking ridiculous. It's also propelling her fifth studio album to the top of the local charts.
Funhouse has just been released locally and has raced up the charts. The album's first single, So What, has already proven a hit internationally and was Pink's first solo number one in the US. We'd be very surprised if it doesn't follow suit locally. The artists has actually sold something like 20 million albums since her self-titled debut in 2000, and that number will have jumped another couple of million by year's end. While Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera have either had a very public meltdown or become boring and married, Pink has continued to push the pop music envelope. The singer has always been hugely popular in Australia and this tour proves that's not about to change anytime soon.
