Michael Parkinson, or Parky as he's affectionately known, isn't on TV anymore, because he's on the road with his live show, and he's bringing it to Australia for the first time. He'll talk about his life, his career, the people he's met, the celebrities he's interviewed, and he'll present some of the best on the big screen; reliving the memories, basking in his glories and his success.
And he has been very successful, with his easy, charming manner. An award-winning journalist, radio personality and TV presenter, Parky's had a life and a half. He's best known for his TV chat show, which ran from 1971 to 1982, and then again from 1998 to 2007. During that time, he's interviewed over 2,000 celebrities, including Bing Crosby, Bette Davis, Sandra Bullock, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will Smith, Kylie Minogue, Billy Connolly, and Dame Edna Everage. They've always been amiable chats, but he's also had his share of difficult interviews, especially the controversial Meg Ryan one in 2003. He was awarded a knighthood for services to broadcasting in 2008... not bad for a boy born in a Yorkshire mining village!
Don't miss your chance to see him live on stage; he'll charm you too in Parky: The One-Man Show.

My wife and I saw him last night in Windsor, UK, and we loved it. Had us laughing, interested and moved. Why can't they put shows like his on Saturday night anymore? Go see him (but then I might be biased, 'coz I came from a Yorkshire mining village five or six miles from his!)

I saw this in Melbourne. Great blend of live talking mixed with his favourite interviews on video - one truly great one that was lost by the BBC for 20 years!

Great news, Parky has filmed one of these shows and it will be shown on Foxtel/BBC's UKTV channel soon. I missed the show, but heard fantastic reviews.
