MGMT Back For The Second Time
Editorial
Talking about the new album, the pair have previously stated they wanted to distance themselves from the pop aspects of their debut and weren't particularly keen on the idea of singles. "We'd rather people hear the whole album as an album and see what tracks jump out rather than the ones that get played on the radio," Goldwasser explained. "There definitely isn't a Time To Pretend or a Kids on the album."
If Flash Delirium is any indication, they've stuck to their guns. While it sounds like MGMT, it doesn't have the immediacy of Electric Feel - the online reaction has certainly been mixed, and that's putting it kindly. Mind you, the actual album isn't due out until April 13, so we're assuming the record label may force them to release something a little more accessible in the meantime. The group's first album, Oracular Spectacular, sold over one million copies internationally. We're guessing the accounts department at Sony/Columbia would like a repeat performance.
