Marc Romboy sings Kraftwerk songs to himself in dark rooms when no one is watching.

Editorial

Marc Romboy was first introduced to electronic music via a band from his hometown of Dusseldorf. Not that he knew they were from his hometown at that point, or what the song he liked was called, or even the name of the band. Instead, he had to sing the lyrics to Kraftwerk's Robots at his local music shop. Eventually, the store owner cottoned on and found a shiny new copy of the album.

30 years later, Marc Romboy has established himself as one of Germany's most acclaimed DJs, producers and label owners. He got his start spinning records in the early 1990s and was running one of the country's most popular labels, Le Petit Prince, within a few short years. While that label eventually ran out of steam, Romboy has continued to evolve his sound, releasing music on some of the world's most influential record labels and DJing throughout the world. Contrast, his second solo album, was released last year and he's currently touring the world in support.

If you want dark techno with dashes of house and electro thrown in the mix then Romboy is your guy. Just don't ask him to sing old Kraftwerk songs.
