The whole affair kicked off at the UK's Shockwaves NME Awards when Love confronted Allen about a dress. As Allen explained, "There was an exchange of words, yes, she's upset because she has got it into her head that I put a lock on some dresses for the Brit Awards 2010. She's made no secret of this and, when I saw her at the NME's she tried to talk to me and I told her to shut up (and) stop spreading stupid rumours about me. And that's pretty much it. I would never fight with her, as a rule I don't pick on crazy old ladies," she stated.

Love had her own take on the dramas. As she wrote on her Twitter account, "Every time she [Allen] walked by me absolutely inappropriately frocked at the NME Awards I wouldn't be faulted for thinking she was at a premiere ... sort of like an oversteroid very nasty girl version of me when I was 30."

The two then took to posting unflattering pics of each other to their respective accounts before Allen finally backed down and got back to retiring from the music industry. "Sorry, that was mean. Enuff [sic] of these juvenile musings, I should never have risen to the bait. Silly Lily."
