Kid Koala Presents
Editorial
While you might not be familiar with The Slew, you'll certainly know the people behind it. A mix of turntablism and live instruments, the project brings together DJs Kid Koala and Dynomite D with the two former members of Wolfmother, Chris Ross and Myles Heskett. While this unorthodox and unexpected pairing is a new development, the material has actually been floating around for years. Award winning turntablist Kid Koala and Dynomite D originally started working on a rock record about four years ago, which eventually morphed into a soundtrack for a documentary and then became nothing when then film was killed off. Rather than ditching the material the pair made contact with the former Wolfmother rhythm section and somehow convinced them that a collaboration made sense.
While no one know's exactly what Kid Koala said to Chris Ross and Myles Heskett, the group are now making their way around the country with a set-up that incorporates six turntables, drums, bass, keyboards and a wall of amps. The ad-hoc group has already performed in the US to rapturous applause so expect more of the same on home turf.
