Kele Sideshows
Editorial
When Kele Okereke took a break from fronting Bloc Party in 2009, he moved to Berlin, then in 2010 he released the extraordinary solo record The Boxer. Inspired by the image of a fighter who takes hits and just keeps swinging, it's a dense, grimy combination of pounding electro beats under Kele's unmistakable, heartfelt vocals. The Boxer realised arrangements and themes that Kele had been tugging his band towards, and critics received it warmly. Audiences get equally excited about Kele's live shows - he thrilled festivalgoers at Glastonbury and on a 20-date US tour. Now it's Australia's turn to roll with Kele's punches.
