Ever get that eerie, spine-tingling feeling when there’s nobody around? Eek! Australia’s history may be short but that does not exempt us from the realm of the supernatural. For an exciting night of historical indulgence with a side serving of goose bumps, band a group of curious foodies for a dining experience that’s out of this world. Essence Food Studio has created a tasty adventure within the stately residence of Werribee Park Mansion where a Victorian era-inspired three-course meal will be served with a twist. Guests meet at the Sofitel Mansion and Spa foyer at 6.45pm for a 7pm pick-up when they are whisked away to the grounds for dinner service.

Chef Bart Beek will first plate up caramelised onion and goat’s cheese tartlets made with fresh shortcrust pastry. The main course is aptly titled “Silence of the Lamb Shanks” which is cooked on low heat for several hours and served with creamy garlic, baby spinach and gremolata. Red and white wine from Ballast Stone Estate will grace the glasses, and streamed Muscat-poached fruit pudding with a Mauritian cream caramel sauce will bring the meal to a sweet finish before the real thrills begin. After dinner at 9pm, guests are treated to the frightening yet funny performance of “What Was That?” which is based on the chilling true story of the Churnside family. Guests play the role of the family’s friends and must follow the actors through the manor as the story unfolds, room by room. For a paranormal palate pleaser and a whole lot of spooky fun, tickets cost $130 per person so book by calling (03) 9742 3068 or visit www.essencefoodstudio.com for more information. Boo!
