Evermore
Editorial
The whole point of the (modern) remix is to take a song from one music genre and sell it to another demographic. When it's done well, it can be brutally effective, opening up an act to a huge audience. That's what happened with Evermore a few years ago and their track, It's Too Late. Originally an indie/pop hit, a remix by Dirty South turned it into an epic club track and that turned Evermore into a multi-platinum act.
Three years later, the New Zealand three-piece have followed up their huge Real Life album with something a bit more experimental. Released in March 2009, Truth of the World: Welcome to the Show is a concept album about trash media, political propaganda, advertising and infotainment. Recorded in the group's Melbourne studio over an 18-month period, it's seen two singles released, Between The Lines and Hey Boys and Girls (Truth of the World pt.2).
Can You Hear Me is the third (and final) single to be lifted form the album and has the band back out on the road in support. The new album hasn't really broken through the way the group's previous material has, so this new single and tour is make or break time. The song is certainly big and epic; all it needs now is a good club mix.
