Eminem has spoken about his pill addiction as his new album tops international charts.

Editorial

With his new album now on store shelves (and number one on the charts), Eminem has been doing the promo rounds, talking to the media about the various problems he had during his four-year hiatus - namely, massive weight gain and a nasty pill addiction. Talking to the BBC, the rapper said he felt like a cartoon character while in rehab. "I was like Bugs Bunny in rehab; Bugs Bunny walking in the room ... [but] there were some people who were as supportive as they could be, some people that were like 'I don't look at you as Eminem, I'm seeing you as Marshall'."

Apparently the rapper was taking up to 20 pills a day at the height of his addiction. As he recalls: "The numbers got so high, I don't even know what I was taking ... My doctor told me the amount of methadone I'd taken was equivalent to shooting up four bags of heroin".

Relapse is Eminem's first solo album since 2004's Encore. We Made You, the first official single to be lifted from the album, has already picked up plenty of radio play (and the controversial videoclip has become a fan favourite). For the record, the album has already gone platinum in Australia, despite very mixed reviews.
