Just how and why BAFTA winning actress Miriam Margolyes was charmed by Charles Dickens is a mystery. But, it’s a mystery that doesn’t bear too much scrutiny; we’re just very glad it happened. This fine actor has found a way to breathe new life into the creations of the nineteenth century novelist.

Margolyes brings extraordinary skill and a great depth of understanding to her depictions of no fewer than 20 Dickens characters. This one-woman show stands as a great encouragement to go home read about each of them. First developed in 1989, this engaging night doesn’t assume knowledge of Dickens. Rather, it creates a willingness to learn.
