David Helfgott has become an entity unto himself, with most people knowing his whole story already. Helfgott was a child prodigy on the piano; after winning a musical scholarship to London's Royal College of Music he began to display signs of a mental illness that would later consume him for long stretches of time. His life was immortalised when his story was brought to the screen in the Oscar-nominated film Shine; since then Helfgott has become a much-loved public identity.

The renowned pianist undertakes an Australian tour doing what he does best: playing the piano. In these concerts he performs the works of some of the world's greatest romantic composers, his favourite classical niche, including the works of Beethoven, Chopin and Rachmaninov.

Helfgott has made a steady return to performing live in the past 10 years, having completed a series of sold-out tours the world over, and with this new tour promising to be just as successful. His engaging onstage persona, combined with his incredible music talents, makes for an entertaining night out with one of the country's favourite personalities.
