Doin' it large the Dandy Warhols way.

Editorial

A long time ago in a galaxy far away (1994), pop charts weren't lookin' real pretty. In fact, some might say they were absolutely tragic. Ruled by the likes of Boys II Men, Gloria Estefan and Reel 2 Reel's “hit”, I Like To Move It, the time wasn't exactly what you would call a highlight of the 90s. Still where there's a whole pile of junk there's bound to be hidden treasure and lucky for us, aching to bust free from the shackles of ungodly pop oppression was a young up-and-coming Oregon group named the Dandy Warhols.

Traipsing onto the scene without the thought to wipe their feet, the Warhols began to re-invent popular music with their first album, Dandys Rule OK? Bursting with steady grooves, catchy hooks and a real unpredictability the Warhols developed an uncanny ability to draw you in like a cosmic riptide. Their second album, ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down, furthered the bands grasp on worldwide domination following hit single, Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth. But it wasn't until their stellar third album, Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia that the Warhols were really launched into the musical stratosphere.

Since then, they've had a steady stream of releases including: Come On Feel The Dandy Warhols, The Dandy Warhols Are Sound and most recently their best of album, The Capitol Years 1995-1997. Unlike a lot of others in the past that have released premature best of albums, the Dandy's have an astonishing back-catalogue of tasty tracks truly worthy to put in a compilation. With that in mind, the group will bring their A Grade material to us here in Oz when they touch down for a national tour in May.
