Chris Isaak
Editorial
Chris Isaak is a true renaissance man. Aside from being an acclaimed singer/songwriter, he's also an actor and former model. If all that wasn't enough, he's a favourite with director, David Lynch, has dated several supermodels and is a genuinely nice guy. Last out here in March, Isaak's return trip finds him donating a percentage of his shows proceeds to the Challenge - a charity organisation dedicated to children suffering from cancer. He's also donated a number of guitars, which will be raffled off for the charity.
Isaak may have a new album on store shelves, Mr Lucky, but he knows what fans want to hear. Wicked Game, Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing, Somebody's Crying and Blue Hotel are staples of the US crooner's live set, alongside a grab bag of covers and newer material. He's got 10 albums to his name since 1985's Silvertone, so there's certainly no lack of material. Basically, it's impossible not to like a man who's appeared in Twin Peaks (even if it was the movie), wears blue velour suits and sings alt-country ballads. Mikolai, July 2009
