Chemical Brothers Return
Editorial
Fifteen years since they first conquered the charts with Block Rocking Beats and Setting Sun, The Chemical Brothers are still one of the world's biggest dance acts. They plan on keeping it that way and have their latest album, Further, due for release on 4 June. Three years in the making, Further has a short film (read: music video) to accompany each track. Which is exactly the sort of indulgence you're entitled to after enjoying the longevity Tom and Ed have attained. Since forming in 1991 the pair have released six studio albums and seen their last five debut at number one in the UK charts.
Further takes its cues from the last four decades of electronic music and finds the guys fleshing out their Electronic Battle Weapons DJ series into a fully fledged LP. Or, if you prefer the official pitch: "West Coast power pop harmonies sit beside German Motorik rhythms while Valentines-esque sonic manipulations plane across the top of early house basslines".
The actual videos/short films are being produced by Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall; the same men who have provided the spectacular visuals for the Chemical Brothers's live shows since 1994. So you can expect them to be epic.
