Carole King and James Taylor, two of the greatest singer/songwriters in history, are touring together.

Editorial

Carole King is one of the most revered and successful singer/songwriters in history. Since the ground breaking success of her Tapestry LP in 1971 she's sold millions of albums, penned some of the biggest hits of the last century and been inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. James Taylor, meanwhile, has sold over 40 million records internationally, picked up five Grammy Awards and scored countless Top 40 hits. Put them together and you have one hell of a show.

While Tapestry was her breakthrough as a singer/songwriter, King had already penned over 20 hit sings before she embarked on a solo career. Reworking some of those older titles alongside new material, Tapestry would go on to sell over 10 million copies in the US, providing classic material like You've Got a Friend, I Feel the Earth Move, It's too Late and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. Meanwhile, James Taylor ran in the same circles as King and was, for a time, a drug addict musician living in New York's East Village. While he got his act together in the early '70s and enjoyed moderate success as a folk singer and songwriter, it was the release of his greatest hits collection in 1976 that propelled him into the music stratosphere. The album collected various works from 1970-76 and went on to sell over 10 million copies in the US alone.

Although both King and Taylor's best known material is over 30 years old, it's stood the test of time. Tapestry is still considered of the best albums of all time and Taylor has a wealth of material in his back catalogue. As far as singer/songwriters go, these two should not be missed.

I've appreciated CK's and JT's music for over 30 years and their music still sound great today. I saw CK's concert in Melbourne a few years ago and she was still able to belt out most of all her hits of yesteryears and she was 64 then !!! Will be seeing both of them tonight at Rod Laver and will be looking forward to a damn good evening of fine music.
