After sold-out seasons, Wayne Scott Kermond pays tribute to the life of Sammy Davis Jr - the only black member of Frank Sinatra's 'Rat Pack' and one of the great all-round entertainers of the 20th century - in the all-singing, all-dancing live show, Candy Man.

Kermond grew up in a showbiz family, with a myriad of musical experience behind him, and has long wanted to pay tribute to the Grammy Hall of Fame Award-winner after being inspired by him in 1986. After performing in Guys and Dolls, at which Sammy Davis Jr was an audience member, Davis approached him in the Green Room after the show, saying, “Man, you are one cool dancer. Keep it up, 'cause we need young cats like you to take over from old cats like me”.

In settings which range from Las Vegas nightclubs to the world's great concert halls, and featuring an eight piece Big Band, a stellar cast of musical theatre performers, and a Youth Choir, Kermond celebrates Davis' life and work in Candy Man, covering his remarkable career in vaudeville, stage musicals and such Hollywood films as the original 1960 Ocean's Eleven.

Named after Davis' 1972 hit, Candy Man, the show features all the songs that audiences around the world have sung along with over the years, including Mr Bojangles, Singin' in the Rain, Rhythm of Life, What Kind of Fool Am I, Hey There; and offers an intimate insight into Sammy's own struggles and triumphs over two and half hours of pure entertainment.

I have watched this performance from its birth, to adolescence to a magnificent giant of a show. Cannot reccoment it too highly and you leave the theatre with a song in your head and a dance on your feet.
