The 2009 APRA winners have been announced with The Living End walking away with the night's biggest prize.

Editorial

The winners of the 2009 APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) Awards have been announced at a ceremony held earlier this week in Melbourne, with The Living End picking up the night's most prestigious award, Song of the Year, for White Noise.

Despite 15 years in the Australian music industry and several multi-platinum albums, White Noise is the first time the Melbourne band have popped up on the APRA list. In another surprise award, The Presets [Kim Moyes and Julian Hamilton] got the nod for APRA Songwriters of the Year. The win caps a remarkable 12 months for the pair and their second LP, Apocalypso, which has seen them touring the globe in support. Meanwhile, Faker picked up Most Played Australian Work for This Heart Attack and Jessica Mauboy won Best Urban Work for Running Back. Congratulations to all the winners.
