Thank goodness for the itch that tempts comedians of great talent away from the screen and back to the stage. Davies, who has found a comfortable home on Stephen Fry's panel show QI, has not sought to scratch publicly in Australia for 15 years. Now, the dermatitis of performance has lured him back to our theatres.

Davies, whom I last saw live 15 years ago, is an adroit performer. He has the rare knack of turning absolute absurdism into broadly enjoyable shtick.

At around fifty bucks, this is a modestly priced guarantee of gags.
