When Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen set about creating [title of show] they thought they'd get self-conscious and have fun with it. Why not write a musical about writing a musical? And everyone wants their productions to make it to Broadway, so why not aim for that in the play and with the play?

If it all sounds a tad confusing, a Tony award and hoards of fans attest to the genuine entertainment it allows. The text is witty and the music is fantastic old-style Broadway.

It's three weeks until the deadline for submitting entries to a musical theatre festival when Jeff and Hunter (yes, the author and lyricist originally played themselves), two typically aspiring New York artists who haven't yet made it, decide to construct their piece about just what they're doing - putting together a musical for a festival.

The Australian production of [title of show] will bring all of the absurd creativity of the original. Jay James Moody will ham up the role of Hunter, with Blake Ericsson playing his co-conspirator, Jeff. The two girls in the gang, Susan (Keira Daley) and Heidi (Lizzie Moore) join their friends along with Larry (Paul Geddes) on the keyboard.

And if you're wondering why the title of the show is just that, come along to find out and laugh with the energetic crew.
